Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Location: Cardiff, Wales

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team and contribute to our students' success.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging and effective lessons.
  • Lead small group and one-to-one interventions, tailored to individual student needs.
  • Assist in the assessment and tracking of student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Develop and implement educational activities and resources.
  • Cover lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting high standards of behaviour and learning.
  • Support students with additional learning needs, implementing strategies to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Collaborate with the wider school staff and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student development.

 

Requirements:

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent.
  • Proven experience working in an educational setting, preferably within a primary or secondary school.
  • Strong understanding of the national curriculum and effective teaching strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively and positively.
  • Passionate about education and committed to the success of all students.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work.

Desirable:

  • Special educational needs (SEN) experience.
  • First aid qualification.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a Welsh educational context.
