Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Role
The main purpose of a HLTA is to support the learning of the children on a 1:1 or group basis. It will involve general classroom management, maintain a positive learning atmosphere alongside the class teacher. In addition to this the role will include leading learning activities set by the class teacher in their absence, e.g., covering PPA (Planning, preparation, and Assessment) time, training days or absences. From leading learning activities, a follow up of marking will be expected and a reflective account of the learning reported back to the teacher.

Provision
The secondary provision is based within the Burnley area and provides education for pupils ages 11-16 who struggle to achieve within a mainstream setting. This provision offers them an alternative route in developing the love for learning. The headteacher coupled with highly trained staff aim to provide all pupils with a new route to academic and vocational success, through personalised programmes of study encouraging them to reach their full potential.
