High-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Contract: Permanent, Fulltime
Location: Reading
Start Date: January 2025 or sooner
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

A well-regarded secondary school in Reading, rated GOOD by Ofsted, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic High-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their permanent staff from January 2025, or sooner if possible.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the academic and personal development of students across the school. Working closely with teachers and other support staff, the HLTA will be expected to lead small group sessions, provide in-class support, and deliver high-quality interventions to help students achieve their full potential. This is a permanent position, offering an exciting opportunity to become an integral part of a forward-thinking and supportive team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
  • Lead small group sessions and one-on-one interventions, focusing on both academic and pastoral needs.
  • Contribute to the assessment and monitoring of students’ progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Support the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with additional needs.
  • Supervise students during non-structured times such as lunch and break periods, as required.
  • Participate in meetings, training sessions, and school events as part of the wider school community.
  • Uphold the school’s values and commitment to inclusivity, ensuring a positive and safe learning environment for all students.

Requirements:

  • HLTA Status: Must hold a recognized HLTA qualification.
  • Experience: Proven experience working as a HLTA or in a similar role within a secondary school setting.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of the secondary curriculum and the ability to support students across various subjects.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to respond to the dynamic needs of the school environment.
  • Commitment: A genuine passion for education and a desire to make a positive impact on students’ lives.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting students with special educational needs (SEN).
  • First aid training or willingness to undertake training.
