Job Description:

  • Role: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
  • Location: North Manchester
  • Hours: Full-time, term-time only (39 weeks per year)

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Learning: Assist the classroom teacher in delivering lessons, often taking responsibility for teaching small groups or whole classes.
  • Planning and Assessment: May involve some planning of lessons or learning activities and contributing to the assessment of students' progress.
  • Specialist Support: Provide targeted support for students with specific needs, such as those with learning difficulties or disabilities.
  • Supervision: Take responsibility for the class in the teacher's absence, often covering planned teacher absence rather than emergency cover.
  • Pastoral Support: Provide pastoral care and support to students, helping to manage behaviour and ensure a positive learning environment.

Qualifications:

  • Essential: HLTA status or equivalent, with significant experience working as a Teaching Assistant.
  • Desirable: Experience in a similar role, ideally within the local area. Additional qualifications related to child development or specific learning needs may be beneficial.
