We are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a vibrant and inclusive school community in Cranborne, Dorset. As a HLTA, you will play a key role in ensuring the well-being and educational progress of students. You will work closely with teachers to deliver high-quality learning experiences tailored to individual needs. This includes assisting in implementing a broad and balanced curriculum while creating a safe and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

You will be responsible for helping students to achieve their full potential, providing additional explanations when necessary, and ensuring that the children feel supported in their learning journey. You will also contribute to behavior management strategies, adapting your approach based on each child's needs to foster a positive and productive learning atmosphere.

  • Safeguarding: Promote and ensure the welfare of all pupils in line with the school's safeguarding policies, including PREVENT.
  • Learning Support: Assist in delivering learning activities that cater to the specific needs of the students, ensuring they have the best possible educational experience.
  • Pupil Relationships: Build positive relationships with students to create a secure and encouraging environment, helping them to enjoy school and engage with their learning.
  • Assessment Support: Under teacher guidance, collect and organize evidence related to pupil progress and attainment. You will also help evaluate learning activities and provide valuable feedback.
  • Progress Monitoring: Assist the teacher in recording and assessing pupil progress, contributing to reports in line with the school's policies.
  • Adaptability: Expect a dynamic role where you will need to assist in various areas across the school to meet the day-to-day needs of the students.

We are looking for someone with a strong commitment to inclusive education and experience in supporting young people with special educational needs (SEN). The ideal candidate will be adaptable, empathetic, and skilled at working collaboratively in a team. You should have a proactive approach and be prepared to diversify your duties as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar role (preferably in an SEN environment)
  • Relevant HLTA qualifications or equivalent
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
