Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate and dedicated Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated good secondary school in Bramhall. This full-time position starts ASAP and continues until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance. The pay for this role ranges from £419.25 to £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As a Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support the teaching and learning of students within the Humanities department, covering subjects such as History, Geography, and Religious Education. This role is ideal for recent graduates looking to gain valuable experience in education, with a view to pursuing a teaching career.

Key Responsibilities:

Classroom Support:

  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and effective Humanities lessons, providing support to students of varying abilities.
  • Work with small groups and individual students, offering tailored assistance to help them understand and excel in Humanities subjects.
  • Help prepare and organize classroom materials and resources, ensuring lessons are well-structured and accessible.

Student Mentoring:

  • Provide academic and pastoral support to students, helping them with their coursework, assignments, and exam preparation.
  • Mentor students, encouraging their interest in Humanities subjects and fostering a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to student reports.

Behaviour and Classroom Management:

  • Support the teacher in managing classroom behavior, promoting a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Implement behavior management strategies to help maintain discipline and address any issues that arise.
  • Supervise students during lessons, breaks, and extracurricular activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with teachers, support staff, and other Teaching Assistants to plan and deliver cohesive and comprehensive educational support.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and carers, providing updates on student progress and addressing any concerns.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Administrative Support:

  • Assist with administrative tasks related to the Humanities department, such as maintaining records, filing reports, and preparing resources.
  • Help organize and participate in school events, trips, and extracurricular activities, particularly those related to Humanities subjects.
  • Contribute to the overall development and implementation of the school's educational policies and strategies.

Requirements:

  • A degree in a Humanities subject (e.g., History, Geography, Religious Education, etc.).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a supportive approach to working with young people.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations, using de-escalation techniques effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
