A highly reputable Multi Academy Trust is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Individual Needs Assistant (0.4 FTE) to join their permanent staff in a Brighton-based school from January 2025, or sooner if available.

The successful candidate will provide vital one-to-one support for students with special educational needs, ensuring they have access to an inclusive and enriching learning experience. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking educational trust that prioritises the development of both students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with individual learning needs, helping them access the curriculum.
  • Work closely with the SENCO, classroom teachers, and other support staff to implement effective learning strategies.
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioural needs in line with the school’s ethos.
  • Foster a positive and nurturing learning environment to promote students’ independence and academic progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to review meetings as required.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational or care setting.
  • A passion for supporting students with additional needs, including learning, behavioural, and/or physical challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working within a school environment, particularly supporting students with SEN.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or care (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and SEND Code of Practice.
