Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for an excellent behavioural SEN school near the Stamford area. The school has stunning grounds and facilities with an established, welcoming and professional team looking to take on an excellent new member of staff for a Full-Time role starting in the new academic year.

The role would start as a temporary role but there is a permanent role available for the right member of staff. The role is leading a class of around 5-8 students in Post16 and will involve; ASDANS, PSHE, Small amounts of GCSE English, Post 16 support (driving licence essential), Preparing for adulthood support/careers. The school are looking for an experienced member of staff comfortable with leading a class but DO NOT require QTS.

Key Details:

  • Hours are 8:30-3:30
  • Breakfast and lunch provided
  • Pay rate varying from £110-£150 based on experience
  • Temp to Perm contract available for the right person
  • DBS check required (Must be on the Update Service)

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience in Special Needs Education: Previous experience working with children with ASD, sensory processing difficulties, and complex behavioural needs.
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding Protocols: Understanding of and experience with safeguarding procedures, particularly in managing harmful behaviours.
  • Behaviour Management: Proficiency in implementing behaviour management strategies, including crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills, with the ability to use alternative communication methods (e.g., visual schedules, social stories).
  • Patience and Empathy: A patient, empathetic approach to supporting children with special needs, with the ability to build trust and rapport.
  • Organisational Skills: Ability to maintain detailed records, manage time effectively, and adapt plans as needed.
  • Physical Fitness: The ability to perform physical interventions if necessary (with training provided).

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

  • Relevant Qualifications: In education, special education, child care, or a related field.
  • Positive Behaviour Support  Training: Certification in crisis intervention, such as Sherwood (Management Deescalation,  Actual or Potential Aggression).
  • Therapeutic Experience: Experience working alongside or with therapeutic professionals, such as occupational therapists or speech and language therapists.
  • Knowledge of ASD Subgroups: Understanding of demand avoidance behaviours and strategies to support children within this subgroup of ASD.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility in approach and willingness to adapt strategies to meet the student evolving needs.

Additional Information:

  • Training: Ongoing professional development and training opportunities will be provided, particularly in areas related to ASD, behaviour management, and safeguarding.
  • Support: You will be working as part of a dedicated team, with regular support and supervision from the SENCO and other specialists.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
