A fast-improving, high-achieving special school in Guildford is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Key Stage 2 (Year 5) Teacher to join their permanent staff team from September 2024. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced educator to make a significant impact in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of students in Year 5.
  • Develop engaging and differentiated teaching strategies that cater to the individual learning styles and abilities of pupils with special educational needs.
  • Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student well-being, engagement, and achievement.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and setting achievable goals.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and external professionals to deliver a cohesive educational experience.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events.
  • Contribute to the wider school community and uphold the school's ethos and values.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in Education or a related field.
  • Experience teaching Key Stage 2, preferably in a special educational needs setting.
  • Strong understanding of the national curriculum and relevant teaching methods.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to foster a positive learning environment.
  • Empathy, patience, and a commitment to supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable:

  • Additional qualifications or training in Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Experience with a range of SEN provisions and strategies.
  • Ability to use assistive technology and innovative teaching tools.
