Position Overview:
As a Lab Technician, you will work closely with science teachers to ensure that all practical lessons are prepared and run smoothly. You will be responsible for setting up and maintaining laboratory equipment, preparing materials, and ensuring that health and safety protocols are followed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up equipment, chemicals, and materials for science practicals, ensuring all necessary resources are available.
  • Assist in the preparation of solutions and samples for experiments.
  • Ensure that all equipment is cleaned, maintained, and stored correctly after use.
  • Support students during practical sessions, ensuring they use equipment safely and correctly.
  • Monitor stock levels and order supplies as required.
  • Ensure that health and safety guidelines are strictly followed in the laboratory.
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory records and carrying out risk assessments for experiments.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a lab technician, ideally within an educational setting, is preferred.
  • A qualification in a science-related field (e.g., A-levels in science subjects, BTEC, or a degree) is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a laboratory environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and a keen attention to detail.
