Lead SEN English Teacher
Location: Leyland, Lancashire   
Salary: M1 - UPS2 plus Expert payment of £1,500 per annum in addition to current salary  
Hours: 40 hours per week – Term Time Only  

Teaching Personnel are excited to work with a large SEN school based in Leyland. The school are looking for a Lead SEN teacher - English, Literacy, Phonics & Careers. The school support young people aged 9-16 who face various challenges associated with social, emotional and mental health needs.

Key duties

  • Lead, organise, and coordinate English within the whole school.
  • Manage and lead relevant approaches and subject information including assessment of progress in English, literacy, phonics
  • Ensure literacy and phonics interventions are co-ordinated, delivered and tracked
  • Develop English as a specialist and successful dimension of the academic curriculum offer; reflected by improved progress and outcomes for all pupils.
  • Provide training to staff as and when required
  • Provide relevant progress and teaching/learning quality information to SLT as required
  • Act as Careers Officer ensuring compliance with the Gatsby Benchmarks

Qualifications: 

  • PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
  • Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with SEN, SLD/PMLD and ASD
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge 

Directions:

The school is located in Leyland. Ideally you will be need to be able to drive and access to your own vehicle. Parking will be available on site.
