Hours:
08:00am-15:30pm.
Days: Monday to Friday.
term time only (39 working weeks).


A high achieving secondary school in the Newport area are seeking a Learning Coach to join their student support team. The school are hoping to appoint a Learning Coach that will work closely with pupils who are eligible to free school meals. You will be joining a friendly and supportive wellbeing team, where the aim is to provide a safe and enjoyable school life for pupils who struggle.

The role:

  • Work closely with pupils and families to raise attainment of the pupils.
  • Responsible for tracking pupils attendance and offering support.
  • Assisting pupils with their school work and offering emotional guidance and support.
  • Getting to know the pupils and understanding any patterns of absence.
  • Liaising with parents, teaching staff and other workers within the wellbeing hub.

About you:

  • Excellent communication skills – to all ages and abilities.
  • Organised and able to act on initiative.
  • Empathetic and supportive.
  • Previous experience working with children or vulnerable adults (highly desirable).
  • Minimum of A-levels or equivalent.

This role plays a vital part within the wellbeing team. The school are hoping to offer this role to someone who is passionate about the futures of the pupils they are supporting. A lot of the pupils you’d be supporting come from disadvantaged backgrounds and often struggle to see the importance in school and education. The school are looking to appoint a member of staff who has a kind and caring nature, but can also be firm and work closely with pupils with high need.
