Responsibilities
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students with special educational needs (SEN) and those who may need extra support in their learning. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting students across the curriculum, both in and outside the classroom.
• Working 1:1 with students or in small groups to provide targeted assistance.
• Helping students to overcome barriers to learning and promoting inclusion.
• Assisting teachers in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Encouraging students’ confidence, motivation, and independence.
• Collaborating with teachers and SEN staff to monitor student progress.
• Creating a positive learning environment and ensuring students are engaged.
• Helping with administrative tasks related to SEN provision when required.

Requirements
We are looking for candidates who have a passion for supporting students and a desire to make a real difference in young people’s lives. The ideal candidate will:

• Have previous experience working with secondary-aged students or children with SEN (desired but not essential).
• Be patient, empathetic, and committed to fostering a nurturing learning environment.
• Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Be able to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and positive way.
• Hold a relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) or be willing to work towards one.
• Be adaptable and able to work under the direction of the SENCO and teaching staff.
