A school in Cockerham are looking for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join thier fantastic team. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support the Teachers to take a creative approach to teaching pupils according to their educational needs, maximising children’s achievement, and ability to develop.

This is a great opportunity for a Learning Support Assistant who is looking to start or continue their career in Education and is motivated to inspire learning in children with varied and complex needs. Your work will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure and you will be working in a school where a strong safeguarding culture is maintained, where pupils are listened to, respected and involved in as many decisions as possible.

When it comes to looking after the children, the school never settles for second best. They are looking for a Learning Support Assistant, who can work with individual and small groups of children, preparing classrooms and materials, and building positive relationships with pupils to promote interaction and learning. As a Learning Support Assistant you will offer essential support to themTeachers and have the opportunity to assist in the planning and delivery of lessons in a creative and positive setting.

Whilst previous experience of working in an SEN environment would be desirable, excellent support skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important. These roles are ideal for people working in customer facing industries including retail, hospitality, and leisure, looking for a new role that makes a real difference to children’s lives and futures.

Educated to GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English, you will be calm, engaging, resilient, enjoy working as part of a team, and be genuinely motivated by helping every child to reach their potential.

The school is a Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEBD) School which caters for boys and girls aged 10 - 17 years of age. The school provide young people with an educational experience that will not only extend their academic and vocational social skills and abilities, but will also promote personal growth and help to build self-esteem. In this way it is hoped that each individual will aspire to achieve their full potential, eventually leaving school with the determination to make a positive contribution to society in the years to come.

 The school has a 15 acre setting in countryside south of Cockerham, Nr Lancaster. Due to the location, it would be beneficial for candidates to have a driving licence.

The school want each young person to achieve their own ambitions and to live fulfilling and productive lives. The school want you to encourage each individual to achieve their potential and dream big, despite of any challenges you or they may face. This can be achieved by assisting and supporting the class teachers with the agreed learning plans, whilst also being responsible for safeguarding the young people. This will include making sure they are healthy, safe and as comfortable as possible and assisting with the physical, emotional and personal care needs for each individual.

 The working hours will be 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
