Position: Support Assistant

Hours: Full time – 30 hours per week

Salary: Grade C – £18,562 - £19,312 (Pro Rata 39 weeks)

Location: Nelson, Lancashire

Teaching Personnel are working to appoint a Level 2 Support assistant to work within the SEND department of a successful secondary school in Nelson.

Pupils who attend school are polite, well behaved and show a passion for learning. The incoming candidate will be working with some of the most vulnerable in school and will be expected to be a patient, caring and dedicated practitioner.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience of working in a school setting
  • Experience of working with pupils with challenging behaviour
  • An understanding and knowledge of the National Curriculum and other learning strategies/programmes
  • An understanding of child development and learning
  • Commitment to the social/emotional/educational integration of pupils
  • A calm and approachable manner and be to work under pressure

The position is required to account for the increased pupil needs following the COVID-19 Pandemic. Pupils require support to ensure that they are able to access the mainstream curriculum, preventing them from further falling behind.

Although experience working within a school setting is desirable, it is not essential for this role. We would be willing to consider graduates interested in pursuing teaching or candidates with a transferable skill set from a previous profession.
