As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting teachers and students within the classroom. You will work closely with students who need additional help, providing tailored support to ensure they can access the curriculum and succeed in their studies.

Your role will involve assisting with classroom activities, helping to manage behaviour, and working one-on-one or in small groups with students who require extra attention.

 

Requirements:

  • Educational Background: A minimum of GCSEs in English and Mathematics. Additional qualifications in education or child development are advantageous.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is highly desirable.
  • Patience and Empathy: A genuine passion for working with young people and the ability to remain patient and empathetic in challenging situations.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and other support assistants.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to work with students of varying abilities and to adjust support methods as needed.
  • Commitment: A strong dedication to the educational success and well-being of all students.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Learning: Assist students with their academic tasks, ensuring they understand and complete their work.
  • Classroom Management: Help maintain a positive learning environment by managing student behaviour and encouraging engagement.
  • Individual Support: Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who require additional help.
  • Resource Preparation: Assist teachers in preparing educational materials and resources.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track and report on the progress of students, highlighting any areas of concern to the teacher.
  • Encouragement and Motivation: Foster a supportive atmosphere where students feel encouraged and motivated to learn.
