Learning Support Assistant

Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit SEN Learning Support Assistants to work on a temporary basis at an SEN Special School in Preston.

The school caters for students ages 3-11 who have moderate to severe and multiple learning difficulties including physical disabilities, sensory impairment, ASC, and SEMH. The school’s holistic approach to meet pupils needs and intends to develop self-discipline, independence and autonomy in preparation for adulthood.

As an Options Autism school, the school provides care and education to pupils and young people with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. As part of Outcomes First Group, the school is leading our sector in setting and delivering new approaches that provide measurable outcomes for those in our care.

Key Duties:

  • Helping children learn through fun and educational activities.
  • Managing a daily schedule that includes activities, toilet breaks, lunch, and rest time.
  • To follow the principles of safeguarding to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
  • Ensure that each child’s cognitive, social, and emotional needs are met.
  • To ensure the education environment, is a safe place for children, that equipment is safe, high standards of hygiene are always adhered to. 
  • To foster children’s growth, self-esteem, and independence.
  • To plan and deliver focused learning opportunities for individual children and to carry out focused tasks from individual SEND action plans.
  • To work with the key workers, to discuss each child’s individual needs.

Key Information:

  • The chance to work with wonderful individual children and young adults.
  • A full time role, Monday to Friday (8.30-3.30pm) start date September 2024.
  • Term-time only role. 
  • PAYE contract.
  • Preston based, PR4.
  • A compettitive hourly rate of pay of £12.90+ per hour depending on experience and additional duties.
