A promising and exciting role has emerged in a lovely secondary school within the Newport area. This is a full-time role for an immediate start until the end of the academic year (July 2025), with scope of being kept on at the school pending successful performance reviews.

Monday to Friday 08:20am- 15:20pm.

What the role entails:

  • Working with pupils aged 11-16 with additional learning needs.
  • Assisting pupils with their school work – offering interventions with literacy and numeracy.
  • Closely working alongside the subject teacher to maintain low levels of disruption.
  • Emotional support for pupils struggling.
  • Enhancing pupils wellbeing and mental health.

What the school are looking for:

  • Patient, kind and caring individual who can be firm.
  • Motivated and able to act on own initiative with little guidance.
  • Experience in a relevant field working with vulnerable adults or children with learning difficulties.
  • An understanding of Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Mental Health needs.
  • Able to commit to a full academic year and not taking holidays during term time.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Personal or professional experience with additional needs.
  • Qualification in education or relatable to this field of work.
  • Confident with behaviour management.
  • Strong communication skills.
