We are looking for a caring and committed Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a secondary school in Havant, Hampshire. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to make a real difference in the lives of young people by supporting their educational and personal development.

  • Work closely with teachers to support students with additional learning needs, both in the classroom and on a one-to-one basis
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Provide targeted academic support in subjects such as English, Maths, and Science
  • Help students to develop their social skills, confidence, and independence
  • Support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to access the curriculum
  • Manage and support positive behaviour in line with the school’s policies
  • Monitor and report on students' progress to teachers and the SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)
  • Encourage students to engage fully with their learning and to participate in extra-curricular activities
  • Experience working with young people, ideally in a school setting or in a support role (e.g., youth work, tutoring, childcare)
  • Teaching Assistant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or Level 3) are desirable, but not essential
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students overcome challenges and reach their potential
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents
  • A proactive and flexible approach to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Basic knowledge of safeguarding and child protection, with a willingness to undergo further training
  • A valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
