Position: Learning Support Assistant

About Them: An alternative provision that caters to secondary-aged students who have previously found it challenging to thrive in mainstream schools are looking for an LSA to join their team. They are committed to providing a nurturing and supportive environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their past experiences. Our dedicated team works closely with students to build strong, trusting relationships, helping them to re-engage with their education and achieve their full potential.

Role Overview: They are seeking a reliable and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join their team. In this role, you will work closely with students who may present with behavioural challenges and require additional support to access their education. You will play a key role in guiding them through their learning journey, using your initiative to adapt strategies that best meet their individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students, both in and out of the classroom, to help them overcome barriers to learning.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students, fostering a safe and supportive environment.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individual learning plans.
  • Support students in managing their behaviour, promoting positive interactions and a focus on learning.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members to ensure consistent support for each student.
  • Use your initiative to engage students in activities that build their confidence and motivation.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with vulnerable students, particularly those with behavioural challenges.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students.
  • The ability to remain calm and focused in challenging situations.
  • A passion for helping students achieve their best, regardless of the obstacles they face.
  • The flexibility to adapt to the needs of each student and the initiative to implement effective support strategies.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
