Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for Learning Support Assistants to support in SEN schools across Bristol and Bath. We are working with a number of vibrant, inclusive, and student-centered schools committed to fostering an environment where every child can thrive. We’re looking for compassionate, patient, and motivated individuals to join our team as  Learning Support Assistants. This role is especially suited to those with backgrounds in sports coaching, psychology, caregiving, or foster care, where interpersonal skills and a deep understanding of young people are essential.

Role Overview

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide essential classroom support, helping to create an inclusive learning environment that encourages every student’s academic, social, and emotional development. This role requires adaptability, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting children’s growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Classroom Support: Assist teachers with lesson preparation and delivery, engaging students in activities, and providing one-on-one support when needed.
  • Student Guidance: Help students with diverse needs, offering individualized support that promotes their confidence and independence.
  • Behavioral and Emotional Support: Use skills in psychology, coaching, or caregiving to support students with social and emotional development, particularly those facing personal or academic challenges.
  • Extracurricular Activities: Lead or assist with sports, recreational, and other extracurricular activities, encouraging physical activity and teamwork.
  • Communication with Staff and Parents: Collaborate closely with teachers, counselors, and parents to ensure a consistent approach to student support.

Ideal Candidate

This role is well-suited to individuals with experience in:

  • Sports Coaching: Ability to lead or support physical education and promote physical health and teamwork.
  • Psychology Graduates: Interest in supporting mental health, understanding behavior, and fostering positive relationships.
  • Carers/Foster Carers: Skills in caregiving, patience, and empathy with a strong understanding of child and adolescent needs.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualifications: Minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths (A-C), with additional qualifications or experience in psychology, sports, or caregiving preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience with children or young people in educational, caregiving, or coaching environments is advantageous.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, teamwork, empathy, and adaptability.
  • Personal Attributes: Patient, compassionate, proactive, and committed to helping children reach their potential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
