Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Do you have the skills to support secondary students with special educational needs in a nurturing and supportive environment? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to work closely with secondary students in a Liverpool alternative provision school, providing tailored support in the classroom to help them achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with special educational needs in small class settings.
  • Assist with classroom activities, ensuring that all students are engaged and included.
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with students, promoting their social and emotional well-being.
  • Help manage and de-escalate behavioural issues, using positive reinforcement and effective behaviour management strategies.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Provide one-on-one support as needed, helping students to develop their skills and confidence.

Essential Qualities:

  • Previous experience working with secondary students with special educational needs.
  • Ability to build strong, trust-based relationships with students.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to handle behavioural issues calmly and effectively.
  • Hardworking, reliable, and dedicated to student success.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
