Learning Support Assistants

- Two full-time roles available (8.30am-2.30pm)

- Specialist School in Lancaster 

- Roles to start after October half-term (Monday 2nd November 2021)

- Long-term role available 

- Experience supporting children with SEMH is desirable

An SEN school in Lancaster are looking for two full-time learning support assistants, to start as soon as possible on a full-time basis (8.30am-2.30pm). One of the roles is to provide general support within classes and the second role is to provide 1:1 support.

The school caters for students aged 11-16 with SEMH difficulties and those who display challenging behaviours. Children who attend school may have large gaps in their learning, due to absences from school. The school has a strong ethos of creating a supportive environment which the children can thrive. To be successful, experience supporting challenging children is required.

Duties will include:

  • Supporting students in crisis and getting to know students to be able to de-escalate challenging behaviour
  • Providing general or 1:1 support within class
  • Ensuring children are focused and appropriately supported whilst in school
  • Helping students to access their education
  • Builiding positive relationships with students, parents and staff

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
