Level 2 EAL Teaching Assistant

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join the dynamic team at a client secondary school. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting EAL students in their language acquisition journey while helping them integrate into the school community. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of young learners from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

The school is based in the heart of Old Trafford, only a short walk from the nearest public transport options. There is also an onsite car park for members of staff with a vehicle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support EAL Students: Assist EAL students in developing their English language skills through tailored support in both classroom settings and small group interventions.
  • Collaborate with Teachers: Work closely with classroom teachers to adapt lesson plans and resources to meet the needs of EAL learners, ensuring they can fully engage with the curriculum.
  • Monitor Progress: Help assess and monitor the progress of EAL students, providing feedback to teachers and parents regarding their development.
  • Cultural Integration: Foster an inclusive environment by promoting cultural awareness and understanding among all students, encouraging peer relationships.
  • Resource Development: Assist in creating engaging materials and resources that cater specifically to the needs of EAL learners.
  • Parental Engagement: Support communication between school staff and non-English speaking parents, facilitating their involvement in their child’s education.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications: Level 2 or relevant qualifications in teaching assistance or education are desirable.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those who speak English as an additional language, is highly advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting diverse learners.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being able to take initiative when necessary.
  • Proficiency in additional languages would be beneficial but not essential.
