Role: Literacy and Reading Support Assistant.

Location: Darwen, Lancashire.

Start date: September 2024.

Contract: Full-time, potential of temp-perm.

The Aim:

To ensure that students make maximum progress. The successful candidate will emphasise a Growth Mindset modelling the characteristics of hard work, resilience, innovation and improvement.

Accountable to:

-          Assistant Headteacher- Inclusion and DSL.

-          Assistant Headteacher- Head of English.

Job Purpose:

-          To ensure that all students being supported make maximum progress.

-          To deliver small group tutoring sessions to 1:1 or groups of 2-4 students at a time.

-          To support students from years 7-11 at both Key Stages 3 and 4.

-          To deliver tutoring sessions both as part of the schools extended day from 3.30 and potential sessions during the school day.

-          To follow department and whole school guidelines with regards to the tutoring sessions and how they run.

-          To ensure tutoring sessions are well planned and engaging for students within the sessions.

-          To communicate effectively with the Assistant Headteacher- Inclusion and DSL and Assistant Headteacher- Head of English to ascertain what content needs to be covered and feedback on student progress from your sessions.

-          To reinforce consistently the school’s 10 school uniform non-negotiables.
