Literacy Teaching Assistant - Perfect opportunity for an English Graduate!

Would you like to help support pupils aged 11-16 that need extra support with Literacy skills?

Teaching Personnel are recruiting on behalf of a Secondary school in Newport for a Literacy Support Teaching Assistant to join the school from September.  The school is a popular and thriving multi-cultural secondary school for pupils aged 11-18.  

In this role the successful applicant will be delivering small group literacy intervention to support the skills development of learners starting from 2nd September 2024.

Details:

  • Full time position (Mon-Friday - term time only)
  • Hours: 08:30 - 15:30
  • Pay: £85 -£90 a day
  • 1 year contract - September 2024 - August 2024.

The school has a fantastic provision for literacy support, and you will be working alongside other talented teaching assistants under the guidance of the school's ALNco (Additional Learning Needs Co-ordinator). The successful candidate will be working with a range of learners, including those with additional learning needs. As part of the team, the successful candidate will be supported to take an active role in ensuring the literacy intervention programmes successfully meet the needs of learners. 

When joining the school you will recieve continuous professional learning, including programmes designed to support the context of the community. The successful candidate will be joining a team where collaboration is at the core of its culture. Alongside this, you will be part of the induction programme for new staff to ensure you feel supported and welcomed from day one.

Requirements:

  • Strong English/Literacy skills - an English degree is desirable!
  • Passionate, dedicated and enaging individual
  • DBS and EWC registration (Teaching Personnel will help you apply for this)
  • Prior expereince delivering interventions is desirable but not essential.
  • Prior classroom experience is desirable but not essential.
  • A professional approach to providing support and building positive relationships is essential in this role.
