Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant – Bramhall, Stockport

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Maths Graduate to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Bramhall, Stockport. This full-time position begins in October and will run until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance. The pay for this role is £419.25 - £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Maths department by helping students achieve their full potential in this key subject. This position is ideal for a recent Maths graduate who is looking to gain valuable experience in education, with a view to potentially pursuing a teaching career in the future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support: Work closely with Maths teachers to deliver engaging and effective lessons. Provide in-class support to students who may need additional help in understanding mathematical concepts.

  • Small Group and One-to-One Interventions: Assist with targeted interventions, working with small groups or individual students to reinforce lesson content, provide extra support, and help with exam preparation.

  • Resource Preparation: Help prepare teaching materials and resources, such as worksheets and presentations. Assist in setting up any required equipment for practical activities or demonstrations.

  • Student Engagement: Encourage a positive attitude towards Maths, helping to build students’ confidence and interest in the subject. Use your subject knowledge to answer questions, clarify concepts, and support students’ learning.

  • Classroom Management: Support the class teacher in maintaining a positive and orderly learning environment, addressing any behavioural issues as they arise and helping to keep students focused and engaged.

  • Progress Monitoring: Assist in tracking student progress by marking work, providing constructive feedback, and identifying any areas where students may need additional support. Contribute to the planning and implementation of intervention strategies for underperforming students.

  • Professional Development: Take advantage of opportunities for professional growth, such as observing experienced teachers, participating in training sessions, and gaining insights into effective teaching practices and classroom management.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Mathematics or a related field.
  • A strong passion for Maths and a desire to inspire and support students in their learning journey.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate well to secondary school students.
  • A proactive, flexible, and positive approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience working with young people, whether in an educational, mentoring, or tutoring capacity, is desirable but not essential.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
