Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant – Cheadle, Stockport

Teaching Personnel is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Maths Graduate to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Cheadle, Stockport, as a Teaching Assistant. This full-time role is set to begin in October and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the position to become permanent based on performance. The role offers a competitive weekly pay range of £419.25 - £500.

Role Overview:

As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the Maths department, working closely with students to help them achieve their academic goals. This position is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in a school setting, with the potential to progress into a teaching career.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support: Assist the classroom teacher in delivering engaging and effective Maths lessons, ensuring all students are fully supported and can access the curriculum.

  • Small Group and One-to-One Interventions: Work with small groups or individual students who may require additional support in understanding mathematical concepts, helping to boost their confidence and academic performance.

  • Resource Preparation: Assist in preparing teaching materials and resources, ensuring they are tailored to the needs of the students and contribute to effective lesson delivery.

  • Progress Monitoring: Help to assess and track student progress, providing feedback to the teacher and contributing to the development of targeted intervention strategies.

  • Encouraging Mathematical Thinking: Foster a positive attitude towards Maths, encouraging students to develop their problem-solving skills and to think critically and creatively.

  • Supporting Classroom Management: Aid in managing classroom behavior, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment is maintained.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A recent Maths graduate with a strong academic background and a passion for the subject.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex mathematical concepts in an accessible and engaging way.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A genuine interest in working with young people and helping them to achieve their full potential.
  • Previous experience working with young people, whether in a school setting or through tutoring, is desirable but not essential.
