Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Cheadle, Stockport. This full-time role is set to begin in October and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of becoming a permanent position based on your performance.

Role Overview: As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the maths department and helping students achieve their full potential. This position is ideal for a recent maths graduate who is passionate about education and looking to gain valuable experience in a school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Support: Work closely with individual students and small groups to provide targeted assistance, particularly to those who may be struggling with mathematical concepts.
  • Classroom Assistance: Support classroom teachers in delivering high-quality maths lessons, ensuring all students are engaged and able to follow the material.
  • Intervention Sessions: Lead or assist in intervention sessions designed to help students improve their understanding of key maths topics and prepare for exams.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track and report on student progress, identifying areas where students need additional support and working with teachers to address these needs.
  • Resource Preparation: Assist in the creation and preparation of learning materials and resources that enhance students’ understanding and engagement with the subject.
  • Exam Preparation: Help students prepare for GCSEs and other assessments by providing revision sessions, practice exams, and one-on-one tutoring.
  • Behaviour Management: Support the maintenance of a positive and focused classroom environment, helping to manage behaviour and ensure that all students can learn effectively.
  • Mentorship: Serve as a role model and mentor to students, encouraging a positive attitude towards maths and academic achievement in general.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Mathematics or a related field.
  • A strong passion for education and working with young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and effectively.
  • A proactive approach to helping students overcome challenges and achieve their academic goals.
  • Experience working with young people or in an educational setting is advantageous but not essential.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
