Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Levenshulme. This is a full-time position, starting in October and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance. The pay for this role ranges from £419.25 to £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support students in their mathematics studies, helping them achieve their academic potential. This role is ideal for a recent Maths graduate who is passionate about education and is considering a career in teaching or educational support. You will work closely with students, offering one-on-one assistance, small group tuition, and in-class support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students in mathematics across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them to understand key concepts and improve their skills
  • Providing targeted intervention sessions for students who need additional help with mathematics, either individually or in small groups
  • Assisting the classroom teacher in preparing lesson materials and delivering engaging learning activities
  • Helping students develop their problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers on areas of strength and areas requiring further support
  • Supporting students in exam preparation, including helping them develop effective study techniques and reinforcing key topics
  • Encouraging students to engage with the subject and develop a positive attitude towards learning maths
  • Assisting with classroom management and maintaining a productive learning environment
  • Building strong working relationships with students, fostering their confidence and enthusiasm for the subject
  • Contributing to the overall success of the maths department and the school's academic targets

Candidate Requirements:

  • A degree in Mathematics or a related field is essential
  • A passion for mathematics and education, with a desire to support young learners in their academic journey
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both students and staff
  • Previous experience working with young people in an educational or tutoring setting is advantageous but not essential
  • The ability to inspire and motivate students, fostering a positive learning environment
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with a willingness to support the wider school community when required
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
