Teaching Personnel is looking to recruit a passionate Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant for an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school located in Chorlton-cum-Hardy. This full-time position is set to begin in December and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of being made permanent depending on performance. The pay for this role is between £419.25 and £500 per week, depending on experience.

As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the Maths department, providing essential support to both teachers and students. This role is ideal for recent graduates with a strong background in Maths, who are considering a career in teaching or looking to gain experience in the education sector.

  • Classroom Support: Assist the classroom teacher in delivering high-quality Maths lessons, ensuring students of all abilities are supported and challenged.
  • 1:1 and Small Group Intervention: Provide targeted support to students, helping them grasp key mathematical concepts through one-to-one sessions or small group work, especially those who may be struggling or preparing for exams.
  • Lesson Preparation: Assist in the preparation of teaching materials and resources, working with the teacher to create engaging and effective learning activities.
  • Homework and Assessment Support: Help students with homework assignments, assist in the marking of assessments, and offer constructive feedback to aid in their academic progress.
  • Mentoring: Act as a mentor to students, offering support not only in Maths but also helping to build their confidence and motivation in learning.
  • Behaviour Management: Support the teacher in maintaining a positive learning environment, managing classroom behaviour and ensuring all students are engaged and focused on their work.
  • Progress Monitoring: Keep track of individual student progress and report findings to the Maths teacher, helping to identify areas where additional support or intervention may be needed.
  • Safeguarding: Ensure that the safeguarding and welfare of students is maintained at all times, adhering to school policies and procedures.
  • Maths Graduate: A degree in Mathematics or a related subject is essential.
  • Interest in Education: This role is particularly suited for individuals interested in pursuing a career in teaching or educational support.
  • Strong Communication Skills: The ability to explain mathematical concepts in a clear, concise manner and engage with students of varying abilities.
  • Patience and Empathy: A calm, supportive approach when working with students who may find Maths challenging.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other members of staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student learning.
  • Organised and Proactive: Strong organisational skills, able to manage your time effectively and support the department where needed.
