Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Maths Specialist Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Wilmslow. This is a full-time position starting in October, running until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Maths Specialist Teaching Assistant, your primary focus will be supporting students in developing their maths skills and boosting their confidence in the subject. Your duties will include:

  • Providing targeted one-on-one and small group support to students struggling with maths concepts
  • Assisting classroom teachers with lesson delivery, ensuring that students are engaging with the material effectively
  • Supporting students in preparing for exams, including GCSEs, by leading revision sessions and helping them to develop effective study techniques
  • Working closely with the maths department to identify students who need extra support and tailoring intervention strategies to meet their needs
  • Assisting with the planning and preparation of teaching materials that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities
  • Monitoring student progress, providing feedback to teachers, and helping to adjust learning plans where necessary
  • Encouraging a positive attitude toward maths, helping students build confidence in their abilities and overcome any barriers to learning
  • Supporting teachers with classroom management and creating an inclusive learning environment for all students
  • Offering pastoral support to students, helping them to manage any challenges related to maths anxiety or lack of confidence
  • Participating in extra-curricular activities related to maths, such as after-school clubs or competitions, to further enhance student engagement

What We're Looking For:

  • A strong background in maths, ideally with a degree or equivalent qualification in a related field
  • A passion for helping students succeed in maths and a desire to support their academic and personal development
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex maths concepts in a simple and engaging way
  • Experience working with young people, ideally in a secondary school or educational setting
  • A proactive, flexible approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A strong interest in pursuing a career in education or teaching is highly desirable
