A highly reputable SEMH School Group is seeking a dedicated and passionate Maths Teacher to join the permanent staff of their esteemed independent special school in Stockton-On-Tees. About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality Maths education to students aged 11-16 with SEMH needs. This role requires a teacher who can inspire and engage students, fostering both their academic and personal growth. The Maths Teacher will work closely with a supportive team of professionals to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Maths lessons that cater to the needs of SEMH students.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback and reports.
  • Develop and implement individualized learning plans in collaboration with other staff members.
  • Create a positive and supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and engagement.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively, using strategies that promote emotional and social development.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies to support student well-being and progress.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Degree in Mathematics or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching Maths at the secondary level, ideally within an SEMH or special school setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH needs and effective teaching strategies for students with these challenges.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and a positive attitude.

Desirable:

  • Additional qualifications or training in special education or SEMH.
  • Experience with various assessment tools and educational technologies.
