We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Pastoral Care Worker to join our dynamic team at a SEN School in Bath. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people, providing emotional and social support to help them thrive both in and out of the classroom.

As a Pastoral Care Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting the well-being of our students, building trusting relationships, and creating a positive and inclusive school environment. You will work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to develop and implement strategies that promote positive behaviour, attendance, and emotional resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support and guidance to students, helping them manage social, emotional, and behavioural challenges.
  • Develop and implement individual pastoral support plans to address specific needs and promote student well-being.
  • Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and report concerns to the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other staff to create a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Support attendance initiatives and work with families to address barriers to regular attendance.
  • Lead and facilitate small group sessions or workshops focused on topics such as social skills, self-esteem, and resilience.
  • Act as a point of contact for parents/carers, providing guidance and support on pastoral issues.
  • Liaise with external agencies, such as social services, healthcare providers, and mental health professionals, to coordinate holistic support for students.
  • Promote a positive school ethos and culture of respect, inclusion, and kindness.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably in an educational or social care setting.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by children with SEN and a commitment to inclusive education.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and professionals.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations with empathy and resilience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational skills.
  • Qualifications in education, psychology, counseling, or social care. (Desired not essential)
  • Experience working in a school environment or with children with special educational needs.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
