Are you passionate about supporting the personal and academic growth of young people? Do you have the skills to inspire, motivate, and guide students through their secondary school journey? A secondary school in Oldham is seeking a dedicated and experienced Pastoral Head of Year to join their team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality pastoral care and guidance to students within your year group.
  • Work closely with students, parents, and staff to ensure student well-being and academic progress.
  • Monitor attendance, behaviour, and academic performance, addressing any concerns proactively.
  • Support students in overcoming barriers to learning and personal development.
  • Lead and contribute to whole-school initiatives to promote positive behaviour and a supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, teachers, and support staff to ensure the effective implementation of pastoral policies.
  • Organise and deliver year group assemblies and events, encouraging a sense of community and achievement.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience in a pastoral or student support role, ideally in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A confident leader with excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to student welfare.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour and support students with diverse needs.
  • A positive and resilient approach, with the ability to inspire and motivate young people.
