Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Do you have a love for sports and a desire to support children with special educational needs? We are seeking a dedicated PE Learning Support Assistant to join a team at an Alternative Provision School in Liverpool, supporting Key Stage 3 pupils.

The school provides a nurturing and supportive environment for pupils who have struggled in mainstream settings. They cater to students with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), including those with ADHD, and work closely with them to help overcome challenges and barriers to learning. Some of our students will return to mainstream education, while others will progress to the Key Stage 4 site.

The Role:

As a PE Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping the students engage in learning through sports and physical education. You will:

  • Support Key Stage 3 pupils with special educational needs, providing tailored assistance to meet their individual requirements.
  • Use sports and physical activities as a tool to break down barriers, build trust, and foster positive relationships with the students.
  • Assist in the development of pupils' social, emotional, and physical skills, helping them build confidence and resilience.
  • Work alongside teaching staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Help prepare students for their future transitions, whether returning to mainstream education or continuing to Key Stage 4.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN), particularly those with ADHD or similar challenges.
  • A genuine passion for sports and using physical education as a means to engage and inspire young people.
  • The ability to build trusting relationships with students, demonstrating empathy, patience, and understanding.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive, proactive approach to supporting pupils' learning and personal development.
  • The flexibility and resilience to work in a dynamic environment, adapting to the needs of each student.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
