Phonics Support Assistant - Key Stage 1 (KS1)

Position Overview: As a Phonics Support Assistant for KS1, you'll play a crucial role in helping young learners develop their reading and writing skills through effective phonics instruction. Working closely with KS1 teachers, you'll provide targeted support to individuals and small groups of students, ensuring their grasp of phonics concepts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with KS1 teachers to implement phonics instruction plans.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support tailored to students' needs.
  • Create engaging phonics activities to enhance learning.
  • Monitor student progress and adapt support strategies accordingly.
  • Foster an inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued.
  • Work collaboratively with other support staff to support student development.

Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm for education and supporting student growth.
  • Strong understanding of phonics principles and teaching methods.
  • Excellent communication skills to connect with students and colleagues.
  • Previous experience in education or with children is preferred.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or phonics support are a plus.
