Play Worker for Primary School Nurture Base (Part-Time)

Location: Formby, Sefton (L37)
Contract Type: Part-time, Flexible Working Hours
Salary: £14-18 per hour
Start Date: week commencing: 09.09.24

The Role:
Teaching Personnel are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Play Worker to join their Nurture Base team on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will work closely with the Nurture Base Leader, teachers, and support staff to create a positive and nurturing environment for children who may benefit from extra support. Your role will involve facilitating play-based activities that promote social skills, emotional well-being, and positive behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, play-based activities that support the social and emotional development of children within the Nurture Base.
  • Work alongside the Nurture Base Leader to create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where all children feel valued and supported.
  • Support children in developing positive relationships with their peers and adults, helping them to build confidence and self-esteem.
  • Assist in monitoring and recording the progress of children, providing feedback to the Nurture Base Leader and class teachers as needed.
  • Help to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and constructive manner, using strategies that promote positive outcomes.
  • Foster a sense of belonging and community within the Nurture Base, encouraging children to participate fully in activities.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a consistent and supportive approach to each child’s well-being and development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing updates on their child’s progress and well-being.

About You:

  • Experience working with children, ideally within a school or childcare setting.
  • A strong understanding of the importance of play in child development, particularly in supporting social and emotional growth.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach, with a genuine passion for helping children overcome challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to work part-time hours that meet the needs of the school and children.
  • A commitment to promoting an inclusive and supportive environment where every child can succeed.
