Primary Classroom Teacher | Merton (SW19) Long-term role

A top-performing primary school in Merton is looking for a committed and energetic Classroom Teacher to become part of their exceptional team. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent classroom management abilities, a genuine enthusiasm for teaching young learners, and the skill to design captivating lesson plans.

Known for its suburban charm, Merton features a mix of housing, from Victorian and Edwardian homes to modern developments. The area is well-served by public transport, including train and tram services, and provides a range of shopping, dining, and recreational facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in accordance with the national curriculum.
  • Assess and record students' progress and provide regular feedback to students and parents.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love of learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events. - Manage classroom behaviour and maintain discipline in accordance with school policies.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience teaching in a primary school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and digital tools.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with inclusive education and supporting students with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Familiarity with the latest educational research and best practices.
  • Creativity and innovation in lesson planning and delivery.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
