Position: Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Rawtenstall, Lancashire
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Start Date: September start


A specialist primary school located in Rawtenstall, dedicated to supporting children with SEMH needs are seeking additional support from September.

The Role:
As a Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to engage fully in their learning.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior support strategies tailored to each child.
  • Offer emotional and behavioral support, helping students to manage their challenges and build resilience.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, SEN specialists, and parents to ensure consistent support and positive outcomes for our students.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and positive classroom environment where every child feels understood and encouraged.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with primary-aged children, particularly those with SEMH needs, in an educational or supportive role.
  • A compassionate, patient, and flexible approach, with a strong commitment to helping children succeed.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A team player with a proactive attitude, ready to adapt to the diverse needs of our students.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or a willingness to undertake further training.
