Psychology Graduates Learning Support Assistant (SEN and SEMH Schools)

Location: Various locations across Surrey including Camberley, Woking and Guildford

Position Type: Full-Time or Part Time

Job Description: Are you a recent psychology graduate looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people? We are offering an exciting opportunity to work within SEN and SEMH schools, providing essential support to students with diverse needs. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in helping students achieve their full potential, both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEN and SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver integrated support.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Encourage and facilitate students' social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, adapting support strategies as necessary.
  • Support students during school activities, including excursions and special events.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in psychology or a related field.
  • A genuine interest in working with children and young people with SEN and SEMH needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Previous experience in an educational or care setting is desirable but not essential.
