Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Psychology Graduate to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Stockport as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. This is a full-time role, starting ASAP and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the position to become permanent based on performance. The role offers a weekly pay rate of £419.25 - £500.

Role Overview:

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students across various subjects, with a particular focus on the psychological and emotional well-being of students. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Classroom Support: Assisting teachers in the delivery of engaging lessons, with a focus on Psychology and related subjects. You will help to facilitate classroom activities, ensure students remain engaged, and provide support to those who may struggle with the material.

  • One-on-One and Small Group Support: Working closely with students who require additional help, particularly those with learning difficulties, emotional challenges, or other special educational needs. Your background in psychology will be invaluable in understanding and addressing these students' specific needs.

  • Behavioral and Emotional Support: Utilizing your psychology knowledge to support students with behavioral or emotional difficulties, helping them to manage their emotions and behavior effectively. This may include working with the school's pastoral team to create individualized support plans.

  • Lesson and Resource Preparation: Collaborating with teachers to develop lesson plans and educational resources that cater to the diverse needs of students. Your input will help to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

  • Assessment and Feedback: Assisting in the evaluation of students' progress, providing constructive feedback, and helping students set and achieve personal and academic goals.

  • Extracurricular Involvement: Supporting or leading extracurricular activities, such as mindfulness sessions, mental health awareness groups, or peer support programs, to promote well-being and resilience among students.

  • Pastoral Care: Offering additional pastoral support, acting as a trusted point of contact for students needing emotional support, and helping to foster a positive and inclusive school culture.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Psychology or a closely related field.
  • A genuine interest in education and a passion for supporting young people's mental and emotional well-being.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • A patient and empathetic approach, particularly when working with students facing emotional or behavioral challenges.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Previous experience working with young people, especially in an educational or mental health setting, is highly desirable.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
