Teaching Personnel is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Psychology Graduate to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Denton, Tameside, as a Teaching Assistant. This full-time position provides an excellent opportunity for a recent psychology graduate to gain invaluable experience working in an educational setting, supporting students and applying psychological principles to enhance their learning experience.

Role Overview: As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help students, particularly those with special educational needs, behavioral challenges, or those who require additional emotional support. You will play a key role in ensuring that all students have the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in their learning, both in group settings and one-on-one, particularly focusing on those who may need extra assistance.
  • Utilize your knowledge of psychology to help develop strategies that improve student engagement, motivation, and emotional well-being.
  • Assist in creating and implementing personalized learning plans for students with special educational needs.
  • Work alongside teachers to deliver lessons, ensuring that all students are supported and can engage with the material.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to reports on student development.
  • Help manage classroom behavior, using techniques informed by psychological research to maintain a positive and conducive learning environment.
  • Support the pastoral care of students, offering emotional support and mentoring where needed.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Psychology.
  • A genuine interest in working with young people and supporting their educational and emotional development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • The ability to work both collaboratively with teachers and independently as needed.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly in an educational or support setting, is advantageous but not essential.

This role is particularly suited to psychology graduates who are considering a career in educational psychology, teaching, or other roles in education and mental health. The position offers hands-on experience and the chance to make a meaningful impact on students' lives, with the potential for a permanent role based on your performance throughout the academic year.
