Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant - Full-Time in Levenshulme

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Levenshulme. This full-time role will begin in October and continue until the end of the academic year, with the opportunity for the position to become permanent based on performance. The pay for this role ranges from £419.25 to £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the learning and well-being of students. This position is ideal for recent Psychology graduates looking to gain valuable experience in an educational setting, particularly those considering a future in teaching, educational psychology, or a related field.

You will work closely with classroom teachers, pastoral staff, and the school's SEN (Special Educational Needs) department to support students with their academic progress, emotional development, and overall mental well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support to students who may need additional help with their academic studies or personal development
  • Assist teachers in delivering lessons, especially in subjects related to psychology and personal development
  • Use your psychological knowledge to help create intervention strategies for students with behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties
  • Work with students who have specific needs, such as those with autism, ADHD, or other learning differences, to help them access the curriculum effectively
  • Help monitor and track student progress, offering feedback and suggestions to teachers and support staff
  • Develop positive relationships with students, helping them to build confidence, resilience, and self-esteem
  • Support the school's pastoral team by providing additional emotional and well-being support where necessary
  • Assist in managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment
  • Contribute to the creation of mental health and well-being initiatives within the school
  • Provide support in the development of individual education plans (IEPs) for students with specific needs

Candidate Requirements:

  • A degree in Psychology or a related field is essential
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people in their academic, emotional, and personal development
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • An understanding of how psychological principles can be applied to support student learning and well-being
  • A proactive, adaptable approach to working with students with different abilities and needs
  • Experience in a school setting or working with young people is desirable but not essential
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students
