Psychology Graduate to Support SENCO in Primary Schools

Position: Psychology Graduate Support Assistant
Location: North Liverpool (L22)
Start Date: 16 September 2024
Contract Type: Part-Time (this can be flexible alongside post graduate studies)
Salary: £85-90 per day

As a Psychology Graduate Support Assistant, you will work closely with the SENCO to provide targeted support for students with special educational needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent psychology graduate to gain hands-on experience in a primary school setting, contributing to the development and implementation of effective support strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the SENCO in identifying and assessing students with special educational needs.
• Support the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs).
• Work with students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups to provide tailored interventions.
• Monitor and record students’ progress and report findings to the SENCO.
• Collaborate with teachers and parents to ensure cohesive support for students.
• Assist in organising and delivering training sessions for staff on SEN best practices.
• Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Qualifications:

• A recent degree in Psychology or a related field.
• An understanding of special educational needs and inclusive education practices.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Empathy, patience, and a genuine interest in supporting children’s learning and development.
• Previous experience working with children (desirable but not essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
