Teaching Personnel is collaborating with a forward-thinking Secondary school in Hartlepool seeking a dedicated and dynamic Religious Education (RE) Teacher for a maternity cover position. This is an excellent opportunity for an educator passionate about RE to inspire and challenge students to explore a wide range of religious, ethical, and philosophical concepts.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Teacher who is passionate and innovative and has a genuine enthusiasm for Religious Education and a commitment to delivering engaging, thought-provoking lessons. We want someone who can, through leading effective teaching and learning, ensure all students will be inspired to achieve the outstanding progress that we know they are capable of.

Key Responsibilities:


• Plan and Deliver Lessons: Design and deliver engaging, differentiated RE lessons that align with the school’s curriculum and national standards, catering to students of varying abilities and learning styles.
• Promote Inclusivity: Create a respectful and inclusive classroom environment where students feel encouraged to engage in open discussions about religious, moral, and spiritual matters, promoting understanding of diverse faiths and worldviews.
• Assessment: Regularly assess student progress using formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to aid their development.
• Curriculum Development: Contribute to the continuous development of the RE curriculum, incorporating innovative and contemporary approaches to ensure relevance to current societal issues.
• Professional Development: Stay up to date with developments in RE pedagogy, participate in relevant training, and contribute to the growth of the RE department and the broader school community.

Essential Requirements:


• Subject Expertise: In-depth knowledge of world religions, ethical philosophies, and contemporary moral issues.
• Communication Skills: The ability to present complex ideas clearly and effectively to students across Key Stages 3 and 4. Experience in Key Stage 5 is an advantage.
• Passion for RE: A commitment to promoting religious literacy, respect for diversity, and critical thinking among students.
• Adaptability and Resilience: Capable of managing the challenges of a dynamic classroom and adjusting teaching strategies to meet diverse student needs.
• Commitment to Safeguarding: An understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies is essential. All successful applicants will be subject to a DBS check.

Relevant teaching experience is mandatory including a QTS

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
