Salary: £30800 – 37000 (Approx £26800 - £33000 Pro-Rata 36 hours per week, 39 weeks per year)

Outstanding SEND School located in the London Borough of Bromley is recruiting a dedicated and experienced School HR Officer. This is a 36 hours per week, 39 weeks per year position to start in August 2024.

The ideal HR Officer must have a strong background in HR, able to build a strong rapport with all stakeholders and can effectively and confidently give HR advice within the context of the school.  Also, as HR Officer, you must be confident handling difficult conversations with school employees and it is imperative that you are resilient individual. This is a successful and well-run SEND School with an exemplary Senior Leadership Team, Middle Managers and staff.

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the school's goals and objectives.
  • Manage the recruitment process, including advertising vacancies, shortlisting candidates, and conducting interviews.
  • Handle employee relations issues, including disciplinary actions, grievances, and conflict resolution.
  • Provide guidance and support to school staff on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR databases.
  • Oversee the induction and onboarding process for new staff members.
  • Manage staff performance appraisals and professional development programs.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Work closely with the School Business Manager to align HR and business strategies.
  • Conduct difficult conversations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Develop initiatives to promote staff well-being and resilience.
  • Prepare HR reports and present findings to senior management.
  • CIPD qualification or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in HR management, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of HR strategy and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult conversations with tact and sensitivity.
  • Resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite and can easily learn new database system.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • You live in easy commutable distance to the London Borough of Bromley.
