School Sports Mentor (Special Educational Needs)

 

About the Role:

Teaching Personnel is seeking passionate sports graduates or individuals with a background in sports to join a Specialist Education School (SEN) in Penarth. As a Sports Mentor, you’ll work with pupils aged 3-19, playing a key role in developing their physical abilities and encouraging healthy lifestyle habits.

This specialist school benefits from on-site professionals including a Physiotherapist and Psychologist, who will provide insights to support students’ development both physically and academically. Physical activity is not only key to improving motor skills but also plays a vital role in enhancing cognitive abilities and building positive relationships. As a Sports Mentor, you will help promote these outcomes inside and outside the classroom.

 

Position Details:

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm 

Pay: £86.40 per day 

Location: Penarth 

Start Date: ASAP

 

Key Responsibilities:

Assist teachers in ensuring students remain active and engaged in both classroom and outdoor activities.

Promote physical and mental well-being by encouraging healthy and active lifestyles.

Work with pupils exhibiting challenging behaviours to help them unlock their potential and succeed.

Collaborate with school staff, parents, and external professionals to provide the best possible support for students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).

Adapt to the needs of students aged 3-19, who may have autism or complex medical needs, helping them thrive and develop independence.

 

Candidate Requirements:

(Teaching Personnel can help you obtain the following)

A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.

EWC registration.

The ability to provide two references from the last 24 months.

The right to work in the UK.

Up-to-date safeguarding training
