School Youth Worker

We are working with a vibrant secondary school located in the heart of Old Traffod, dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for our students. Every student deserves access to quality support and guidance, which is why we are seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth Worker to join our client school.

As a Youth Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting the personal development of all students. You will work closely with young people aged 11-16, providing guidance, mentorship, and resources to help them navigate the challenges of adolescence. Your primary focus will be on promoting positive relationships, enhancing social skills, and encouraging academic engagement among students.

Our client school is just a 5-minute walk from local public transport options including bus and tram stops. The school also boasts a large onsite car park for members of staff with a vehicle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Individual Students: Provide one-on-one support for students facing personal or academic challenges. Develop tailored action plans to address their specific needs.
  • Group Activities: Organize and facilitate group activities that promote teamwork, communication skills, and emotional resilience.
  • Collaboration with Staff: Work collaboratively with teachers, counsellors, and other staff members to identify students who may benefit from additional support.
  • Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with parents and community organizations to create a network of support for students.
  • Monitoring Progress: Keep detailed records of student interactions and progress; regularly assess the effectiveness of interventions.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in youth work, social work, education or a related field is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience working with young people in educational or community settings.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by adolescents today.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
