Teaching Personnel is looking for an enthusiastic Science Graduate Teaching Assistant to support students at an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Denton, Tameside. This role is full-time, beginning in December and continuing through to the end of the academic year, with the possibility of becoming a permanent position based on performance. Weekly pay ranges from £419.25 to £500.

This position is ideal for a recent Science graduate who is passionate about education and eager to help students excel in their science studies. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you'll provide academic support to students across various year groups and scientific disciplines, working closely with the Science Department to create a dynamic and effective learning environment.

  • In-Class Support: Assist science teachers in delivering lessons, helping students understand complex concepts in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, and offering one-on-one support to those who need extra help.
  • Individual and Small-Group Tutoring: Provide targeted support to students, working with them individually or in small groups to address specific areas of difficulty, reinforce understanding, and improve academic confidence.
  • Laboratory Assistance: Help prepare and manage laboratory resources for practical lessons, ensuring a safe and organised environment for students to conduct experiments.
  • Resource Development: Collaborate with teachers to create engaging learning materials that simplify complex topics, making science accessible and interesting for all students.
  • Exam Preparation: Support students in preparing for assessments and exams by helping them develop effective study habits, practice exam techniques, and review key content areas.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track student progress through regular assessments, offering feedback to both students and teaching staff, and helping adapt support as needed.
  • Classroom Management: Assist with classroom supervision, ensuring a focused and productive learning environment, and supporting students in managing their time and responsibilities effectively.
  • STEM Engagement: Encourage enthusiasm for STEM by helping facilitate science-based clubs, events, and workshops that stimulate interest and foster a love of learning.
  • Science Graduate: A degree in a science-related subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline) is essential.
  • Passion for Education: Strong commitment to supporting students' academic success and interest in building experience within an educational setting.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and relatable way, adapting explanations to fit each student's learning style.
  • Organised and Proactive: Able to manage responsibilities effectively and take initiative to support teachers and students.
  • Collaborative and Supportive: Works well within a team environment, supporting colleagues in providing the best learning experience possible.
  • Experience Working with Young People (desirable): Experience in tutoring, mentoring, or working in an educational setting is a plus.
